Stop for a second. Can you stop planning, thinking or just stop moving-for a moment? Just stop. What is it you are exactly so busy with? I get this comment weekly as I drop hints of my life details in conversations.
Here's my answer:
No-I can't stop.
I am busy creating a new life, bringing a dream to reality. I am busy hustling to make sure I've got everything taken care of, so I can have a moment to work on my dreams and passions. I am busy trying so hard to make difficult things feasible. My lifestyle is not for the easy approachers or the cautious ones. They think I must like it this way-busy. Creating a new life and pursuing your dreams with action takes just that-action! So every spare minute of every day, I am busy focusing on doing tasks to take a step forward to build my dreams.
So I would ask you....
What are you moving towards that you are in such a hurry for? Where is your hustle taking you? Anywhere? Or in circles?
We are so busy in our lives; leaving here late and arriving there after; forgetting this and adding that to our To Do list. There is rarely an ideal time to stop.
But what is all your busyness about?
What is the purpose?
What is the 'towards what end?'
Why do we do it?
Is it because it is an expectation from society that we put our kids in endless extracurricular programs so they can maybe be the next best NHL hockey player or maybe be the next best singer or gymnast Olympian. Do we honestly really feel that that is all necessary to be the best version of Us? What is the price we pay for all that busyness? Rushing from here to there does not create more fulfilled children. Or more fulfilled lives. Shouldn't we be teaching them how to listen for their dreams and play with tangible steps towards them.
Your mat is your sanctuary. Your place where you have permission to pause & notice free from To Do lists and societal expectations and judgments and achievements. Your mat is your home where you get to put everything down- the schedule, the coordinating, the accomplishing and the never ending cycle of trying to get ahead. There is no getting ahead. In yoga you show up, you breathe & you move. That's it. That is the end of the objective. When was the last time you felt like you reached your objective for the day. Or are you just going into the next day moving your To Do list over because you didn't quite reach the mark today. Let's meet on your mat and find out what it's like to not be constantly running late. Let's explore our dreams and spend time with them and then make the next To Do list be about them.
